Get to Know Marnie
Marnie Schneider is CEO of Gameday in the USA as well as the author of the bestselling book series “Football Freddie and Fumble the Dog.” She is also an inspirational speaker and philanthropist whose activities exemplify her love of sports and helping others.
Marnie’s focus on football and philanthropy is part of her family heritage. She is the granddaughter of Leonard Tose, former owner of the Philadelphia Eagles and a founder of the Ronald McDonald House, and the daughter of Susan Tose Spencer, the first female GM of an NFL team as well as legal counsel and VP for the Eagles.
“As the granddaughter of a Philadelphia Eagles owner, and someone who grew up happily visiting one NFL city after the other on team travels, I was educated on the life lessons of the greatest game on turf. Now I want to pass on the joy of being a fan and that gameday love to every child in the world.”
Meet the Author
Marnie discovered her love of writing during trips with her mom to various cities with professional football teams. Marnie’s passion for travel and sports shines through in Gameday in the USA (Gameday). The series is in the Top 100 Kids Sports Travel books by Amazon.
Writing the stories has been her way of giving back to the many great football communities across the nation. The series includes 9 books that focus on a city and its football team. It follows lovable characters, Football Freddie and Fumble the Dog, and the rich history and culture of each area they visit.
“I would get on the team plane, and I would sit in the last row with the flight attendants. I had my notepad and maybe a Sony Walkman for music, but I basically created Football Freddie when we were traveling 30 years ago.”
Family First
Marnie’s pride is her three kids—Jonathan, Goldie and Leo. Marnie's experience with her first son, Jonathan, having neuroblastoma opsoclonus as a young child taught her much about the importance of an extended family and support. Marnie has a heart for animals and has two rescue dogs and a pony. Additionally, she takes care of her mom who was recently diagnosed with dementia.
“Following the release of our first book (co-authored with my mom,) she started to exhibit some strange behavior, which I now know is dementia. And then suddenly it was like, ‘Oh no, what am I going to do now?’ We had started this business book hobby and my mom was like, ‘Go finish it. Just keep going.’”
More On Marnie’s Mom
Susan Tose Spencer
Like many, Marnie’s involvement with the Alzheimer’s Association began when this tragic disease became a reality for her family. Marnie’s mother, Susan Tose Spencer, was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2018. Since that moment, Marnie has made it a part of her personal journey to tell her mom’s story and listen to the stories of others.
